With the dance scene undergoing a facelift in recent times (even though disco/funk/soul/italo/house orientated DJs have always been around) we, at Q&D, thought it was the perfect time to bring Derry into alignment with what is going on elsewhere on the dance floors across the world.
Only recently Derry played host to the much heralded, and Q&D favourite, Greg Wilson (check out our article on Greg here). Wilson, who played at the Music City event in Ebrington Square, seemed to awaken the crowd to a form of dance music, not often heard in Derry before, dance music which owes itself to dancing! This is achieved through lower BPM tracks, old-school classics, and modern day re-works, not to mention a deep archive of often long forgotten tracks, which all audiences can enjoy and recognise.
This trend is set to continue with the arrival of 'Nile Rodgers Presents- The Chic Organisation' on Sunday 28th July, which is set to be one of the biggest music events of the City of Culture.
Riding on the crest of this wave, The Queen and Disco have been striving to further push this re-invigorated genre onto the masses with a stellar summer line-up of our own, including Horse Meat Disco, Late Nite Tuff Guy, and Get Down Edits.
Our inaugural party is this Saturday, 13th July at The Nerve Centre where Horse Meat Disco, supported by Lowendisko and Q&D residents, will lay down the soundtrack to a night full of grooves and moves.
The residents of Derry are no strangers to the Horse Meat Disco Experience, with the disco troupe performing several times in the Maiden City since their inception almost 10 years ago.
They have become world renowned for their residencies in London, Berlin, Paris and New York and are repeat offenders on turntables across the globe with demand never waning for danceable grooves and the unique party atmosphere they bring.
This is a fresh concept for the Derry dance scene, pushing an all inclusive atmosphere and good vibes, accompanied by the perfect soundtrack to unforgettable parties.
This is not to be missed.
