Feature ¦ Kanye West - Sample Seniority or Blatant Ego Tickling

Since its inception, Hip-Hop and Rap and all of their subsequent sub-genres had been founded on the sampling of snippets of older songs, from a multitude of different genres, in order to create an unrecognisable whole; which was in many instances, greater than the sum of its parts...

Don Downing ¦ Doctor Boogie (Ramsey Hercules & Fingerman Edit)

FEATURE ¦ Last Night a DJ Saved my Life

I recently read a great article by Pete Walker entitled: The Revolution will be Slow and Sexy. This was a piece based on the author of Last night a DJ saved my Life and legendary UK DJ/Producer, Bill Brewster. The article was in keeping with the whole Daft Punk craze that seems to be sweeping the globe, never-mind the nation these days. When I say in keeping with this craze, what I mean by that is now more than ever there seems to be a real sense of shift in the direction music is about to take, mainly due to DP's massive popularity amongst electronic lovers.

Cassius/Outkast - Feeling for Rosa (Flight Facilities Mash-up)

I don't really like these silly, cheesey mash-ups, normally. This track was taken from the recent Flight Facilities 1992-2002 mix which features songs and in this case mash-ups from that period. Again, i usually don't like these types of mixes and that but this one was different to most.

Syl Johnson ¦ Don't Do It (Scratch & Sniff Re-Edit)

Funked up Re-edit of Syl Johnson by Scratch & Sniff.

Daft Punk ¦ Get Lucky ft Pharell Williams + 2 Edits

This is an edit of Daft Punk's upcoming single, not the original. However it is still cool to get a sneak preview of what's to come. The new album will be released on May 21st, and you just get the feeling it's going to be slightly special going on these collaboration videos and the hype surrounding it especially considering the current state of electronic music. They've been working on the album with an array of the worlds best talent, Nile Rogers, Pharell, and Julien Casablancas to name a few. See the collaborators clip with Pharell here:

The Black Keys ¦ Everlasting Light

The Black Keys-Everlasting Light from Jennifer Tzar on Vimeo.

They've been around for ages but with this album The Black Keys showed just how far they've come musically and Everlasting light from Brothers (2010) hits the nail on the head for me.

The White Lamp ¦ Make It Good

Groovy little number from The White Lamp, The track impressed Gilles Peterson so much that he licenced it right away for his next Brownswood Bubble compilation. There have been a number of remixes of this from Phon.o and the impressive Hannes Fischer, however the original does it for me.

Queen & Disco ¦ Session 002

Session #2 and this time starting off with a few new house/nu-disco numbers. Moving into more familiar territory later on in the mix.

Gulivert ¦ Horny Horny

This slow building House number reminds me of a tune however I can't put my finger on which one. The fast beat, lingering percussions and slowly unfolding melody fit together perfectly.

FCL ¦ It's You" (The Heat Re-edit)

This for me is a huge track, typically upbeat and housey from San Soda's original, this version adds more of a kick and a club feel.
